CLC Rules of Four Square
by Annabelle DeAngelo
During recess and afterschool, some CLC students play four square. There are three four square courts on the blacktop, but only two of them are used. While CLC students play four square, there are many arguments. The majority of these arguments concern the rules of the game. For example, one person said that if the ball lands on an outer line, the person who hit it is out. Another person said that if the ball lands on an outer line, it is still in play. Students also argue about midair hits. Some say you should be able to hit the ball before it bounces, while others say that would be unfair. In order to prevent these arguments, I have decided to write an official list of rules for four square at CLC. In order to make these rules fair, I interviewed several students who play four square. I changed the rules we currently play by based on their opinions. I interviewed Chris, Bailey, Ellie, Ben, Mark, and Shannon. They gave me advice concerning the original four square rules. After changing the original rules, based on their opinions, these are the rules I came up with. Rules for Single
