The Facts
The Pine Grove POW interrogation camp was used during World War 2. It was one of the three interrogation camps in America. German and Japanese prisoners were held in Pine Grove. They were treated fairly well, according to a 94 year old who worked at the interrogation camp. He said that making prisoners comfortable was more effective than torturing them. If the prisoners were uncooperative, then the soldiers at the camp would threaten to hand them over to the Russians, who used crueler ways to get information. Most prisoners only stayed at the interrogation camp for one to two weeks. If they had useful information, they would be sent to a higher level interrogation camp. If they weren’t useful, they would be sent to a normal POW camp.
